I went to St. Augustine with Leila last weekend and we had a great time. The whole town has white lights decorating the streets, businesses, and houses from December through January. We stayed at the Hilton by the bay and it was the perfect location to stay.
The fort in St. Augustine - Castillo De San Marcos - is just a two minute walk down the street and the pedestrian zone with shopping and restaurants is a street right behind the hotel.
If you want an idea for a fun weekend out of town, try St. Augustine. With tons of history, shopping, and great restaurants (not to mention pubs), there is something fun for everyone.
